The Prophet Isaiah Came To Standing Rock

In those days.

It was when the last of the good yellow journalists
called out, a parched, thirsty voice on the plains
You heard.

The women had gathered. The men had come.

a way. a path.

They would not stand aside.

The oil cannot move through here.
So we will not move from here.

And then those came who would stand beside.

And then there were those
who wrote, who read, who said.
That the true path cannot be this path
proceeding as planned.

a way. a path.

I would swear it.

And then, the soldiers came.
They came, unlike any way they had come before.

They joined the circle.
On bended knee.

Though it looked like snow, covering the camp–I tell you this–
The rivers had opened on the bare frozen heights.

a way. a path.

I would swear it.
