We lived

We Lived
seven tenths of a mile
off the road
no one could sneak up
on you
the chuckchuckclick
of the gravel underneath
the tire
was a loud giveaway
and even if you
cut the headlights
as you came around the bend

we could see you coming

Though there were few strange threats that I remember from my childhood living on a farm with a gravel driveway, I liked the way this tone became foreboding, esp. with the ambiguous hint of the title.
